The Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture has partnered with the University of Tennessee to bring farm stress resources and programming to the U.S. Virgin Islands through SAgE-VI. SAgE-VI aims to help farmers overcome stress.

SAgE-VI aims to tackle the root causes of farmer stress. Selected participants will help us understand stress impacts, receive training, financial assistance, technology access, and peer learning opportunities.

We are accepting applications until 11:59 pm on August 31st, 2024. Apply now or reach out to us with questions at vi@southernagexchange.org.

We will select 30 eligible applicants for an initial cohort. Each member will receive training, stress reduction skills, technology access, and financial assistance. To apply, you must be a farmer in the territory and have a valid farming license or be willing to obtain one, and be willing to participate in bi-weekly meetings from September 2024-March 2025.

A review team of territory and regional agricultural and mental health experts will help select participants from applications. Each application will be scored using a rubric based on the applicant’s eligibility and fit for the program, including willingness to participate in project activities like training and outreach.
